The doors are finished, and I’ll share photos soon.  I had to choose a paint color this morning, and I am the WORST at this.  I am decision impaired…it’s bad.   Of course, you know it’s brown, but do you know how many shades of brown are out there?

More about the shed later… on to other things.

I recently painted a french style dresser that has been on my “to do” list for quite some time.  I really like how it turned out.

Here is a pitiful “before” shot.

I just didn’t have the gumption to put all the drawers back in, but you get the idea.

Here are the products I used.

A $5 gallon of paint that I found on the “oops” shelf at Lowes.  Denatured alcohol and Briwax.

I had intended all along to use this dresser to try out Annie Sloan’s chalk paint.  I have heard so much about it.  But in the end I went with the $5 paint from Lowes.  Mainly because it is the same paint I used for a piece I have in my dining room, and I really like the color.

Here it is last fall.

The steps are very easy and straight forward.

1.  Wipe down all surfaces that will be painted with the denatured alcohol.  This will dull the surface a bit, and give the surface a little “tooth” for the paint to adhere.

2.  Paint.  Paint a second coat if necessary… I usually do.

3.  Wipe on desired amount of Briwax, working in small sections.  Try starting in a place that is less noticeable… you will get the hang of it and see how you want it to look as you go along.  Briwax comes in several shades, I use Rustic Pine.
